Bauchi government revives meat product company

The Bauchi State Government, in an effort to reduce the over dependence on oil sector of the economy, has revived the Bauchi meat Product Company.

Speaking with news men on the development, the managing director of the company, Dr. Alkasim Ibrahim said the move will no doubt assist in diversifying the state economy.

Dr. Alkasim Ibrahim stated that the decision of Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar to revive the company is a clear step to create wealth in the state through the non oil sector.

He expressed belief that quite a number of unemployed youth would be engaged in various segment of labour when the company becomes fully operational as the company is proposing enough capital base from the state government in addition to the running cost being approved to the meat product company.

The managing director, said plans are underway to re-activate its depots in Lagos, Enugu and Port Harcourt as well as other cool stores of the company for efficient delivery and supply of its products across the country.

Dr. Alkasim indicated that some of the company’s products such as corned beef will soon be re-introduced for exportation to neighboring countries.

According to him, the company has commenced the sales of small ruminants to the public apart from the animal processing services rendered to the public.
