The Independent Corrupt Practice And Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, says Nigeria has been ranked as the one hundred and thirty sixth country (136th) out of the one hundred and sixty seven(167) countries in the latest Transparency International ranking for 2015.
The Chairman of ICPC, Mr Ekpo Nta, stated this when he featured on a Voice of Nigeria programme “In The News” in Abuja.
He said the latest ranking revealed that Nigeria was ahead of thirty countries in the world.
“I like looking at the statistics the way we are rated internationally. I will say, we are progressing, but the results are still not very good that Nigeria as a nation is supposed to be. Every effort in the fight against corruption is welcomed”
Mr Nta stated that Nigeria was winning the fight against corruption.
The ICPC Chairman explained that the Nigerian government had been able to reduce corruption in Ministries, Departments and Agencies through preventive measures adopted, adding that preventive measures were the best approach in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
