President Buhari  was speaking at a reception organised in his honour by the Ogun state government in commemoration of 40years of existence.

The president expressed his appreciation to Governor Amosun for associating him with the tremendous work of developmental transformation in the state.

Also, two surviving committee members for the‎ creation of the state, Olori Yetunde Gbadebo and Prof. Biyi Afonja were also honoured.

In his remarks, Obasanjo ‎thanked President Buhari for honoring the Ogun state invitation despite his tight schedule.

“For anyone of us to say he single handedly ‎facilitated the creation of Ogun state will not be correct. The creation of Ogun state in 1976 was a collective work of all of us”, Obasanjo added.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun thanked the founding fathers of the state and promised to continue with the good foundation they had laid for the state.

Ogun state was among the 7 states created in 1976 by the Muritala, Obasanjo led administration.
