Nigeria’s Budget and National planning Minister Zainab Ahmed, elected member (EITI).

The Nigerian Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, has been elected as member of the International Board of the Global Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

Mrs Ahmed, who was the former Executive Secretary of Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), is to represent the African continent.

African countries who are members of (EITI) include  Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Zambia.

NEITI is a board of the global organization made up of 50 countries which proposed the candidature of Mrs Ahmed, following her excellent service while serving as the Executive Secretary in the last five years.

She is to join 20 other members of the board drawn from the six continents of the world.

The new board is expected to be inaugurated at the 7TH Global Conference in Lima, Peru later this month is to be chaired by a former Prime Minister of Sweden, Mr Fredrik Reinfeldt.
