Kenya’s Abraham Kipton has emerged winner of the Lagos City Marathon in 2hrs 21 mins. This was 20 secs ahead of his fellow compatriot, Hosea Kipkembe who came in second.
Debebe Toise of Ethiopia came third behind the Kenyans.
The race began at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos on Saturday at 7.10 a. m.
20,000 runners had been scheduled to take part in the 42.1km race.
The runners went through the Ikorodu road to Oworonsoki; then later on to the Third Mainland Bridge to Victoria Island and ended at Eko Atlantic Beach.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Sharabutu Philibus of Nasarawa Sports Commission, finished in the eighth position and was the fastest Nigerian in the race after finishing in 2hrs 30secs.
