President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerian youths to join in the discus of addressing challenges facing the country’s economy.
The President who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang , made the call in Abuja on Monday while formally presenting the Book, “the famous call” to the Nigerian public.
He also urged the youths to write and create confidence in all domestic matters and local products in Nigerian education institutions.
“upon the receipt by an invite of Mr Akwueh to Mr President, I was directed to represent the President and to deliver his solidarity with the Nigerian youths for this great intellectual work and the documentation of historical facts and political analysis as done by the author of this work”
“The book, the famous call, documents the interaction between Former President Goodluck Jonathan and the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari on March 31st 2015 at about 5:15pm when the former President congratulated the incumbent on his victory in the general elections”
He however charged authors to add value to Nigeria’s crude oil refining capacity.
“let me appreciate and charge the media and the youths that they should apply such skills to join the discuss on addressing the Nigerian economy from currency devaluation and emphasis on petro-chemical engineering to an economy that is defined and sustained by Agriculture and exports of Agricultural products and other products of goods produced and consumed locally”
“We charge authors to write value addition to crude oil to be increased into our local refining capacity. i.e refining what we consume and refining to be exported”
“We should write and create confidence in all our domestic products and local products and in our educational institutions and we should also write on what our youths that are not employed can do to have gainful employment” he added.
The Book Reviewer, Mr Uche Nwankwo Uche from University of Ibadan, described the 6 chapter book as a giant stride in Nigeria’s quest to tell her own story.
Speaking on behalf of the Senate media, Mr Sanni , called on the media practitioners to channel their intellectual skills to national development.
In her goodwill message the Secretary of the FCT council of the NUJ, Rafat Salami said the book launch was well attended following due to the fact that Journalists are well exposed to so many events in the Country.
The Book, “The Famous Call” which documents historical facts and the call between Former President Goodluck Jonathan and the Incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari, is politically and mentally stimulating as it confronts and changes the conventional outlook of Nigeria’s politicking while it also offered a road map into the future ahead.
“The Famous Call” is a book written from a Journalist’s experience of covering and reporting the 2015 Presidential Election in Nigeria. The author, Edwin Akwueh is a Senior News Editor with Voice of Nigeria, Abuja. The book is about promoting the new cultures that emerged as part of the aftermath of the 2015 Nigeria Presidential Election.
