President Muhammadu Buhari is ready to present the 2017 appropriation bill before a joint session of the National Assembly.
After the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma said President Muhammadu Buhari will soon present the document to the lawmakers.
“The budget has been approved by the Federal Executive Council. The details of course will be revealed when the president presents the budget to the National Assembly. With regards to the date of the presentation by the president, the president will write to them and it will be when they confirm and then invite the president,” Senator Udoma explained.
Nigerians have interest in knowing how the 2016 budget has performed in terms of providing welfare to citizens.
Senator Udoma said “with respect to 2016 budget implementation, we had revenue constraints never the less, we have briefing regularly every month and up to today we have paid all personnel in full . We made a good proportion of overheads and we have released almost N800M in terms of capital”
Also, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola said the Council approved reconstruction works on a number of dams which will provide water, electricity and promote agriculture.
