AFCON 2017: Nigeria’s date with Egypt moves forward

The match between Nigeria and Egypt has been shifted forward by three days after the teams received approval from CAF that the crucial African Nations Championship (AFCON) qualifier be moved.

The match originally scheduled for March 23 in Kaduna state, Northern Nigeria will now be played on March 26.

According to the media officer for the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Ademola Olajire, the shift in date will provide opportunity for the Super Eagles to train more for the clash.

Egypt is top of the qualifying group for Gabon 2017 with six points from two matches.

Nigeria is in second place with four points, Tanzania are third with just a point, while Chad are bottom without any points.

Only winners of each group will advance to the biennial championship in Gabon in January 2017.
