Amazon, set to create over 5,000 jobs in Britain

Online retailer Amazon is set to create more than 5,000 jobs in Britain in 2017, the company saidon Monday, Boosting its investment in the country Once more even as it prepares to leave theEuropean Union.

Amazon, along with other tech giants such as  Google and Apple, has increased its commitmentTo Britain in the last year, saying Britain’sReferendum decision to leave the EU last June didNot affect its investment plans.

The plans to add over 5,000 jobs in 2017 is aRecord for Amazon in Britain, although at least2,000 of the jobs had been previously announced.The moves would take its permanent workforce inhe country to 24,000.

Doug Gurr, UK country manager at Amazon, said thatThe jobs would provide, “even faster delivery, moreSelection and better value” for British customers.Amazon’s new head office in London will haveCapacity for more than 5,000 people by the end ofThe year, the firm said.The concentration of techExpertise in London has been cited by many firmsAs an attraction.
