Twelve Anambra governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, APC have been screened and cleared to contest in the party’s primary election.
The Chairman of the APC screening committee, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Agboola Ajayi said this when he presented the screening report to the APC National Organising Secretary Senator Osita Izunasor at the party’s Headquarters in Abuja.
Mr. Ajayi also said that all the aspirants signed an undertaking to support the aspirant that emerges as flag bearer of the APC after the August 19 primary.
The APC National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunasor who appreciated the committee for the work said the Appeal Committee will seat on Monday and Tuesday in case there are any petitions from the screening that needs to be addressed.
He further revealed that the election committee will be inaugurated on Tuesday.
“The election committee will be inaugurated on Tuesday; we hope they move to Anambra state as quickly as possible. When they arrive in the state, they will have a critical stakeholders meeting with aspirants to discuss the modalities for the election. There will be two meeting’s, one with the aspirants and one with major stakeholders. Let them the assignment you’ve come to do and advice them on one or two areas they need to look into” he said.
He further explained that the party has taken care of security in ahead of the election in Anambra state “Both the police, the DSS, Civil Defence and INEC are fully aware of the event” Izunasor explained.
He commended the aspirants for their peaceful behaviour and that of their supporters so far and urged them to maintain such attitude.
