The All Progressives Congress APC says it is poised to win the forth-coming gubernatorial election in Ondo State, South-West Nigeria.

Plateau State Governor, Mr Simon Lalong gave the assurance in an interview with Journalists at the Presidential Villa Abuja, in his capacity as the Chairman of the APC campaign team for Ondo State.

He said he was in the State House to formally present the party’s candidate to President Buhari and also seek his blessings.

“Few weeks ago,  I was given the responsibility of leading the APC  campaign team for Ondo governorship election on behalf of the National Executives of our great party, so today we came in with the APC candidate, Rotimi Akerodolu, to present to the President, who is the leader of our party. This confirms that APC has one candidate for that election, unlike others who are still fighting about who is their candidate,” Lalong said.

Governor Lalong said the party had since corrected the mistakes of the past and was not behind the crisis of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in Ondo state.

“You know what happened in Kogi and Edo of recent. We won the election there and Ondo will not be an exception. We have corrected all the mistakes we made in other states and we foresee a very smooth election besides, the credibility of the candidate we have picked is a plus. We are consolidated on ground and we will win by God’s grace,” he said.

Also speaking to Journalists, the APC gubernatorial candidate for Ondo state, Mr Rotimi Akerodolu said his party had advised security agencies in the State to be up and doing, to give room for free and fair election come November 26.

“We are calling on the security apparatus in Ondo State to be up and doing so that you don’t allow miscreants to take over because nobody can control the end of such violent demonstrations so we fear for the lives and property of Ondo State citizens who are just bystanders,” he appealed.

Akeredolu said he was sure of defeating his opponents at the polls, as the people of Ondo State are clamouring for change.
