Governors and Legislators of Nigeria’s governing party, the All Progress Congress APC are meeting to ensure that Nigeria’s 2017 Budget will benefit the people.
The Majority Leader in Nigeria’s House of Representative, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila stated this when he spoke with journalists after a brief meeting between some APC governors and some law makers in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Mr. Gbajabiamila said both the Federal Government and the Legislature have a common goal to reduce economic hardship through the budget.
“The budget belongs to the Federal Government, the party APC and legislators and stakeholders are involved and we want to make sure that the outcome is something that will be beneficial to Nigerians as we have promised as a party.
“Committees are still working and we’ve done a public hearing for the first in history for Nigerians to contribute. I am sure that in the next two to three weeks maximum, the budget will be passed” he said.
According to Mr Gbajabiamila, the meeting has been rescheduled because “certain key people that we wanted to be present that were not present but it will hold at a more convenient time”.
Out of twenty four APC governors, three were present and about five law makers were in attendance for the meeting.
