Governors of the governing All Progressives Congress APC have met with Acting President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja to discuss ways to move the party forward and consolidate on the gains of democracy.
Leader of the APC Governors forum, Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, stated this while speaking to State House Correspondents at the end of the meeting.
“We came to see the Acting President to talk on issues that relate to our party. People tend to forget that the President and the Acting President are members of the APC. So we have come to discuss issues that relate to our party and our government and how to move our party forward. We have to strengthen the party to make sure that the APC comes out victorious in all elections,” he said.
On whether the party was scared of the reorganisation going on in the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, he said they were not scared of the PDP, which they had defeated before.
“Very soon we will hold our convention, that’s part of the things we discussed. The PDP is not an issue. We don’t even care about that. We defeated them when they were in power so it wouldn’t be different now that we are in power,” Okorocha stated.
The meeting which lasted over an hour was held behind closed doors.
