The governors in Nigeria’s governing Party, the All Progressives Congress, APC have met with the party’s National Working Committee to take stock of their performance in their states.
The governor of Plateau State, Mr. Simon Lalong who stated this after the meeting that held at the APC Headquarters in Abuja said the purpose of the meeting was to plan for their second anniversary.
“The meeting took a total review of the activities so far and the performance of the party in the various states where we have APC government and came to the conclusion that so far so good we have done very well”
Governor Lalong also explained that the meeting set up a committee to meet with the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo to set a date for the party’s National Convention.
“The issue of national convention was part of the decision we took last meeting but unfortunately Mr. President is not here, he is the leader of the party. We now have an acting president. The team was supposed to meet the president with suggested date so that we can decide on the convention but today we all agreed that since we have an acting president the same process should start again through the acting president.”
Governor Lalong also said that the party leaders briefed the governors on the progress of resolving the crisis in the state chapters in Bauchi and Kogi states.
“Part of the conclusion at this meeting was report on the issues in mainly Bauchi and Kogi states. The party reported that they’ve gone in and invited those people and those issues are almost resolved.”
This meeting is the second in a series of meetings that the party and governors resolved to hold every month.
Nine governors and seven deputy governors were present at the meeting.
