The National Youth Games has asked athletes in the (36) thirty six states of the federation to ensure that participants are within the age bracket of seventeen years and below for the credibility of the Games.
The third edition Joint Technical Meeting of the National Youth Games gave the directive in a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting held in Ilorin.
The Communiqué signed by the Director of Grassroots Sports Development, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Are Ademola and the Chairman, Director of Sports Forum, Tunde Kazeem said August 28 and September 8 this year had been adopted for the third edition of the Games which would hold at the University of Ilorin.
According to the communiqué, 25 sports were adopted to be featured in the competition, which are badminton, basketball, boxing, Chess, Cricket, Cycling, Football, Gymnastics, handball, Judo, Karate, Para-table tennis and scrabble.
Other sports are table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, swimming, squash, track and field, traditional sports, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and wush-kungfu.
The Communiqué has also called for all participating states to ensure appropriate insurance coverage for its contingents.
It adopted that the hosting right for the fourth and fifth editions of the National Youth Games should be thrown open for states to bid.
