AU to inaugurate new Peace & Security building

The African Union (AU) Commission is going to hold an inauguration ceremony for the newly constructed Peace and Security building coming up on  Tuesday at the AU headquarters in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa.

The building named the Julius Nyerere Peace and Security Building, was constructed by the government of Germany, at a cost of 27 million Euros, said a statement from AU.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, is expected to attend the inaugural ceremony of the building, whereby she, along with Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Chairperson of the AU Commission, will make address, according to the statement.

The new building hosts the AU Peace and Security Department, and provides a base for the operation of the continental early warning system and the coordination of peacekeeping missions, said the statement.
