Barcelona FC has confirmed Ernesto Valverde as their new coach for the next two years.
The club announced Valverde’s arrival at a press conference on Monday.
Valverde, a former Barcelona player, recently announced his departure from Athletic Bilbao, where he had been in charge for the last four seasons.
The 53-year-old replaces Luis Enrique who led Barcelona to the treble in his first season, the domestic double last term and the Copa del Rey this year.
Valverde was praised by Barcelona FC President, Josep Maria Bartomeu for his “ability, judgement, knowledge and experience”.
“He promotes young players and he plays the Barca way,” Bartomeu said.
Valverde also managed Espanyol, Olympiakos and Valencia.
