Bashir, Odey dropped from NPFL All-Star

Nasarawa United striker Abdulrahman Bashir and Stephen Odey of MFM FC have been left out of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) All-Star scheduled for a four-day tour of Spain in August.

Both strikers were named in the provisional list of 37 which included 13 forwards before the team’s head coach, Salisu Yusuf, trimmed the number to 25.

Bashir has been in fine form of late for Nasarawa United, scoring six goals in six NPFL games on the spin for his club to take his tally to 12 goals this season while Odey is MFM’s highest goalscorer this term with eight goals.

Yusuf, who named his team for the friendly against Valencia and for the Ramon de Carranza Trophy. preferred NPFL league scorer Godwin Obaje as well as Ezekiel Bassey, Joseph Osadiaye, Chisom Egbuchulam, Ismaila Gata, El-Kanemi winger Hussaini Bata and Sikiru Olatunbosun ahead of the dropped pair.

Also left out of the trip to Spain are Heartland’s Emeka Ogbugh, Frederick Obomate of Rivers United, Moses Ebiye of Ikorodu United, Otun Fawaz of 3SC, Shedrack Oghali of Warri Wolves and Lobi Stars goalkeeper, Okiemute Odah.

However, the trio of Ifeanyi Matthew, Anthony Okpotu and Ibrahim Mustapha did not make the squad on special grounds including sealing moves abroad.
