Bayelsa election holds today

All is set for the election in Southern Ijaw Local Government in 102 Polling Units across 6 other Local Government Areas of Bayelsa state in the Niger Delta region scheduled for today, Saturday 9thJanuary 2016.

This was in a statement by the Deputy Director, Voter Enlightenment, Mr Mic Dazang.

The Southern Ijaw Local Government Election was cancelled on the 7th of December 2015 due to violence, ballot box snatching and stuffing, harassment and abduction of electoral officials.

Going into statistics, Mr dazing said “Southern Ijaw Local Government has a total of 120, 827 registered voters, 425 Polling Units and 5 Voting Points”.

Thirty Eight Thousand registered voters in 102 Polling Units across 6 Local Governments of: Brass, Ekeremor, Nembe, Sagbama, Yenagoa and Ogbia will also be opportuned to participate in the election to conclude the Bayelsa state governorship election earlier scheduled for Saturday, December 5th, 2015.

 Benue south election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has scheduled the Benue South Senatorial district re-run election for Saturday, 13th February.

“Benue South Senatorial District is made up of 9 Local Government Areas, 102 Registration Areas, 1,016 Polling Units and a total of 1,174 Voting Points”, Mr Dazang further stated.

The Commission will deploy a total of 4, 931 staff to conduct the election. The breakdown of staff to be deployed is as follows: 102 Supervising Presiding Officers; 1,016 Presiding Officers; and 3,522 Assistant Presiding Officers (I, II, III). Others are 1,174 Assistant Presiding Officers (VP); and 235 Reserve Assistant Presiding Officers.
