Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is expected to return to the country this week and start his preparations for the crucial (FIFA) Cup qualifier against Cameroon.
However, Rohr will start off with the national team B who are already camped in Kano preparing to take Benin Republic for the (CAF) African Nations Championship.
Meanwhile, coach Salisu Yusuf said his wards are match ready to play and win against Squirrels of Benin Republic. The team resumed camping in the ancient city last week and according to Yusuf, the players are doing well in training and are in high spirits. “We are really preparing seriously for the game against Benin in Kano. I can tell you that the spirit in camp is high and the players are roaring to the challenge,. I have no doubt that the Super Eagles will overcome Benin next month to make the second leg a formality.” Salisu said.
Nigeria have only qualified for two editions of (CHAN), finishing third in South Africa 2014 and crashing out in the first round in Rwanda 2016.
