Department of State Services to arraign corrupt judges

Nigeria’s Department of State Services, DSS, has promised to rid the nation off some corrupt Judges who have amassed wealth through illegal means.

The Service spokesman, Mr. Adbullahi Garba made this known during a press briefing at its headquarters in Abuja.

Mr. Garba stated that huge amount of both local and foreign currencies has been recovered from three judges under DSS custody.

“The service action is in line with its core mandate as we have been monitoring the expensive and luxurious lifestyle of some of the Judges as well as complaints from the concerned public over judgment obtained fraudulently and on basis of amounts of money paid.

“Both foreign and local currencies of; 93,558,000 Naira, 530,087 Dollars, 25,970 Pounds and 5,680 Euros and other foreign currencies were recovered from just three judges in addition to banking documents and real estate documents,” he explained.

The service promised to arraign the culprits soon, in line with the laws of the nation.

The DSS also called on the Judiciary not to feel that the service was undermining their powers but they were working towards a corrupt free Judiciary.

 “The service will like to put it on record, that it has tremendous respect for the Judiciary and would not do anything to undermine it. It will also join hands with this noble institution in its fight to rid it of few corrupt judges whose actions is undermining not only the Judiciary but the common bond of our national life,” he stressed.

Mr. Garba added that the current operation would continue until sanity was restored to the third arm of government and public confidence regained.
