The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed Edo and Ondo States governorship elections for September 10 and November 26 respectively.
INEC Deputy Director of Publicity and Voter education, Mr. Nick Dazang stated this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Mr. Dazang informed them that the commission had concluded plans to publish the election timetable to the public.
“The moment the timetable is out, the commission will start the process for budgeting and proper implementation for the elections,” he said.
The elections, according to him, were followed by the expiration of tenure in the office of the affected state governors.
Mr. Dazang remarked that the every election conducted by the commission stood as a test for better elections in the future, as the commission was poised to conduct elections that would be widely accepted.
He, however, warned that the commission would not condone any act of sabotage to frustrate the commission’s efforts in improving the country’s electoral process.
