Enugu unemployed youths acquire skill Acquisition

The Enugu State Executive Council has approved the enrolment of 750 unemployed youths into the Sustainable Development Goals’ skill acquisition programme.

Commissioner for Information, Mr. Godwin Udeuhele said that the youths to be engaged in the skill acquisition programme would make use of the centers already established and equipped in Udenu, Enugu South and Ezeagu local government areas.

“Selected youths would be trained in vocations such as hairdressing, aluminium works, fashion design, among other skills and will receive stipends at the end of the training,” he explained.

According to Mr. Udeuhele, the council has also approved the sum of over 61 million naira for the immediate procurement and installation of 800 KVA power generator at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital.

This is to solve the problem of power outage at the health facility, as well as to enhance its capacity to deliver quality healthcare services to the people.

Equally approved was a Christmas light-up charity project at the Okpara Square, Enugu, between 12th of December 2016 and 12th of January 2017.

The initiative will create room for corporate bodies and charity organizations to donate items to disadvantaged persons in the spirit of the Yuletide.
