Female journalist kidnapped in Benue

A female journalist working with Benue State Government Radio Station in North Central Nigeria, Yuadoo Tor-Agbidye has been kidnapped by unknown gun men.

Yuadoo, a Controller News with Radio Benue was kidnapped in her sleep at gun point in the early hours of Friday at her New GRA residence in Makurdi, the State Capital.

Her SUV personal car was also taken away by her abductors.

The kidnap of the female journalist has since sparked off reactions across the state, particularly among practicing journalists, friends and family members.

Rising from an emergency State Executive Council Meeting held Friday in Makurdi, the Benue State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, expressed deep concerns over the kidnap of her member.


The Union in a statement issued by its Vice Chairman, Kajo Martins and Secretary¬† Emmanuel Agber condemned the act in all it’s ramifications.

“The Nigeria Union of Journalists therefore wish to categorically condemn this barbaric act on this innocent law abiding citizen and hereby demand for her unconventional release with immediate effect.”

The Union meanwhile has urged security operatives to deploy its arsenal to every corner of the state to ensure the immediate release of the kidnapped journalist.

The statement also called on security operatives, especially the Police to intensify its stop and search operations, in order to secure the lives and property of Benue citizens, particular at this Yuletide season.

Mrs. Yuadoo Tor-Agbidye, a mother of three is wife of the North Central Zonal Manager of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Mr. Achia Tor-Agbidiye.
