The Nigerian government says it will continue to support the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, in its commitment to ensure safety of Nigerians on the nation’s high ways.
President Muhamadu Buhari stated this while commissioning two hundred and eighty three (283) newly acquired Operational Vehicles by the government, to enhance the operational capacity of FRSC in Nigeria.
The President called on FRSC to address the lingering issue of violation of one-way traffic by road users in cities and inter -city roads, recurring problem of overloading of human, animal and cargo of vehicles and the poor handling of cargo containers during haulage.
“It is to further boost the operational success of the Corps and in line with the administration’s desire to ensure safety and security of the citizens that this administration approved the procurement of 283 operational vehicles being commissioned today”, the President added.
He urged Nigerians to support FRSC and other law enforcement agencies in their efforts to ensure safety and security of the country.
On his part, the Corp Marshal of the FRSC, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, assured the government that the vehicles would be judiciously utilised and maintained to enhance effective service delivery to Nigerians.
