Muslims across Nigeria who may be interested in visiting Osun State for the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, have been invited to take free train rides that commence on Tuesday.
A statement from the Osun Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Cooperatives and Empowerment says the free train arrangement starts on Tuesday and end on Saturday.
The train shall convey people from Lagos, via Ogun and Oyo to Osogbo, the state capital, on Tuesday 5th July and return them to Lagos on Saturday 9th July.
According to the statement, the provision of the free train ride is to facilitate a hitch-free home coming during the Muslim festival period, just as it had been for Eid el-Kabir, Christmas and Easter periods.
“This gesture is from the government of Mr Rauf Aregbesola to provide the opportunity for indigenes and non-indigenes, who would like to visit the state during the festive period.
“This government wants comfort for its citizens, who hitherto encounter hardship and fare hikes during the festive periods,” the statement noted.
The statement also urged people from Lagos, Ogun and Oyo States to utilize the free train opportunity offered by the Aregbesola government to come home and celebrate with their relatives.
