Nigeria Professional Football League side Giwa Football Club of Jos has been docked three points and three goals for failing to turn up against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.
In a statement released by the League Management Company (LMC) through their official twitter handle, the Jos side has also been fined N250,000 which the LMC describes as “being the cost of hiring Ilorin Stadium – their new ‘home’- and providing security, ball boys, etc as is expected of hosts”
The LMC also stated that Giwa FC will be “thrown out” of the league should they miss the game with Abia Warriors in a Match Day 15 fixture.
With this decision, Wikki Tourists are now occupying the 5th position on the league table with 22 points while Giwa remain second from bottom with 14 points.
Giwa FC has 48 hours to appeal the decision.
It will be recalled that the LMC had fined Giwa FC five million nairaand ordered the Jos club to play their next three home matches at the Ilorin Township Stadium, following investigations into the circumstances that led to the abandoning of a league Match Day 12 fixture between the club and Rangers.
