Government to curb youth restiveness through sports

The Kwara State Government says it is fully committed to developing sports to become a strong platform for engaging youth mentally and physically.

The State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed said sports development requires the participation of all and sundry to reduce restiveness in youths.

Governor Ahmed while rejoicing with the victorious Kwara Falcon Basketball Team promised improved support and guidance to enable the team retain its leadership in the league.

He reiterated government’s commitment towards renovating the indoor sports hall of the State stadium to provide conducive environment for players and athletes in the state.

Governor Ahmed stated this while receiving the teams led by the Chairman, Kwara State Basketball Association, Dr Joseph Olutayo.

Most disciplined team
The Chairman, Kwara State Basketball Association, Dr. Joseph Olutayo explained that the team had earlier came sixth and third before emerging first in the Savannah Confluence of Nigeria Basketball League.

Dr. Olutayo said the team is blessed with one of the top five Basketball players in Nigeria and earned the most disciplined team in the just concluded league.

He however sought more support from the government to enable the team to retain its players, address outstanding allowances and transportation challenges.
