Kano Governor condemns kidnapping of lawmaker

Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has condemned the kidnapping of a lawmaker from the state, Hon Umar Garba Durbunde, representing Takai/Sumaila Federal Constituency.

Hon Durbunde was kidnapped on Tuesday evening by unknown men at Jere, on Kaduna – Abuja road at about 5 pm, while returning to Abuja from Kano.

Dr. Ganduje expressed shock over the sad development, particularly as it happened at the Holy month of Ramadan.

He described the incident as an act of wickedness, perpetrated by evil and cold hearted element.

The governor tasked the Police, including other security agencies to intensify efforts toward rescuing the kidnapped lawmaker.

He also advised members of the public to always be vigilant and security conscious.

The governor’s reaction was contained in a statement, issued and signed by the Kano State Commissioner for Information, Mr Mohammed Garba.
