Kwara Polytechnic concludes plans to run sports courses

The Kwara State Polytechnic has concluded plans to partner with Kwara Football Academy, KFA, to run certificate courses in sports.

The Rector, Masud Elelu said this would enable the youths who have the passion for sports to gain admission into the school in Ilorin, the state’s capital.

“Apart from boosting the Polytechnic’s internally generated revenue, the certificate courses will also assist the footballers gain more knowledge and have sound academic background,’’ he added.

Meanwhile, the Purchasing and Supply Department of Kwara State Polytechnic has won the 2016 Rector’s cup. The match did not witness a clear winner at the end of 90 minutes.
This led to the penalty shoot-out which ended with 3-1 in favour of the Purchasing and Supply Department.

Successful competition
Presenting the cup to the winners and silver medals to the second team, the Rector, Mas’ud Elelu thanked God for the smooth conclusion of the annual football competition especially as no injury was witnessed.

He congratulated the winners and enjoined the team that came second to take it as one of life experiences of a sports man.

“In any competition, there is always a winner and a loser so I advise the winners to rejoice magnanimously and prepare hard for the forth-coming Nigerian Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA), coming up later in the year,’’ he added.

The Deputy Rector, (Administration), Engineer Ahmed Aminu represented the Rector at the event.

The winners thanked the Rector and promised to keep winning laurels for the Polytechnic in their future sporting activities.

The Rector’s cup is an annual event marking the epic of the Students Union Government, SUG’s week.
