The chairman and the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state, Hon. Ishola Balogun Fulani and Chief Bode Adekanye have been kidnapped at gun point along Lokoja Okene road in Kogi state, North Central Nigeria.
The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Sulyman Buhari confirmed the incident to VON in a telephone interview on Friday night at about 5pm local time.
The incident according to Alhaji Buhari occurred at about 10am on Friday while the party chairman Alhaji Balogun- Fulani and the Party scribe, Chief Adekanye were returning to Ilorin on their way back from Abuja.
According to him, they received a call from the line of the chairman telling them of the kidnapping issue.
No ransom was mentioned and all attempts to make further enquiries from them proved abortive as the line was no longer available.
“We are on it to see if we can still establish a link with them. We have taken all the necessary steps and linked up with relevant security operatives to ensure their safety and eventual release,” he said.”
Today (Saturday) is the second day of the incident and the victims are still in the hands of their captives.
A source who confided with VON said they are already in touch with the kidnappers and the victims via the GSM of the party scribe and they are demanding a ransom of N30, 000, 000 each on their victims totaling N60, 000, 000.
VON reliably gathered that the driver of the vehicle in which they were kidnapped and the Vehicle are said to be at a police station in Lokoja while families of the victims and APC members in the State have commenced prayers for their safe release.
They equally appealed to security operatives to come to their rescue and check the incessant kidnapping and robbery incidents along Lokoja-Okene Road.
