Lagos Eyo Festival

Lagos State has held the Eyo festival, a unique festival with colourful display of culture and tradition at the Tafawa Balewa Square.

The ancient Yoruba traditional festival is part of activities to mark the 50th celebration of Lagos.

The monarch, Oba Akiolu says “the festival is to honour illustrious sons of Lagos, including His Royal Highness, the Late Elegushi of Ikate, Oba Yekinni Elegushi (Kusenla II) and the deceased Co-Chairman, Lagos@50 Committee, Mr. Rasheed Gbadamosi.’’

Oba Akiolu had warned resident and visitors not to wear shoes and women not to wear any form of head gears to mark the festival.
