The Lagos State government says it is open for ideas and collaborations that will fast track development of Tourism and hospitality industry.
The state commissioner for Tourism, Art and Culture, Mr Folorunsho Folarin- Coker said this at the event tagged “Flavours of Lagos” held at the bar beach in Victoria Island Lagos, where variety of locally made cuisine were on display.
“The idea behind the initiative is to provide a forum to showcase and promote traditional Lagos cuisine,” Mr Folarin- Coker stated.
According to him, the event is organised for the people of the state to come and showcase their culinary skills where buying and selling will evolve and businesses grow.
“Flavours of Lagos is an off shoot of One Lagos brand, an initiative of Lagos state Ministry of Tourism Art and Culture and it’s a brand that we have put on this platform to say that anybody who wants to use it to generate a greater consumptions of local tourism asset should please come and let’s achieve it,” he explained.
The Commissioner restated the commitment of the state government to ensure that the tourism potential was showcased to the world, stressing an enabling environment for business activities across the state.
Mr Folarin- Coker further stated that the event was in partnership with private organisations, designed to encourage small businesses to thrive and also showcase tourism asset of the state.
He said that the Ministry would organised series of events before the end of the year.
“Hopefully, we still have a few more festivals before the end of the year which are all tilted towards driving tourism asset of Lagos. We have the Beer Festival for the beer companies, the River Party Festival which is Boat Riggata, One Lagos Fashion Show, One Lagos Bikers among others,” Mr Folarin- Coker highlighted.
The Commissioner who was excited by the turn out of the people at the event, they were other activities for the people as part of the build up to the 50th anniversary of the state billed up for May, next year.
