Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has promised to support Plateau United to enable them to win the Premier League.
While commending the Jos team for topping the league at the end of the first round, Lalong said he would reward the team when they arrive in the state from Katsina where they held Katsina United to a 1-1 draw.
A statement by the Media Officer of the club, Albert Dakup, on Sunday said Lalong spoke through his Chief of Staff, John Dafaan, who represented him during a meeting with the team at their Club House in Jos.
The governor said his administration was totally committed to the continental ambition of the team.
Lalong congratulated the team for winning this year’s State Federation cup and urged them to redouble their efforts in the second round of the Premier League to ensure that they win the league for the government and the people of the state.
The General Manager of the outfit, Pius Henwan, commended the governor for supporting the team.
The coach of the team, Kennedy Boboye, assured the governor that the team would work harder in the second stanza.
He stressed that as champions of the first round, they would take the second round seriously.
