Following the leadership crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the Prince Sunday Fagbemi-led executive forced its way into the party’s Kwara State secretariat in Ilorin on Monday.

Members of the party who are loyal to the Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of PDP converged on the Secretariat early in the morning, before their factional State Chairman; Prince Sunday Fagbemi stormed the place amid wild jubilation by his members.

The jubilant PDP supporters and stalwarts were seen carrying placards with various inscriptions such as “Akogun Must Go”, “Kwara PDP supports Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee”, Enough is Enough” and “Prince Fagbemi is Kwara PDP Chairman.

Speaking with newsmen at the Secretariat, the factional State Chairman, Fagbemi said his executive committee remains the authentic leadership of the state PDP.

Prince Fagbemi explained that his Committee was duly elected at the State Congress of the party, noting that the appeal committee set up by the National body of PDP also affirmed him as the State Chairman in its report.

In his reaction, the Publicity Secretary, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo-led executive of the PDP, Otunba Rex Olawoye however, insisted that Akogun Iyinola Oyedepo remained the authentic State Chairman of the party.

Otunba Olawoye who disclosed that Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo was in Abuja attending a national meeting of the party, wondered why any group could forcefully enter the secretariat of the party, describing the act as a coup and an invitation to anarchy.

Otunba Olawoye however maintained that the PDP was still one in Kwara State and all the differences would surmounted in due course.
