The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has underscored the relevance of SERVICOM for continuous change and improvement in service delivery.
Fashola who stated this while receiving the Acting National Coordinator of SERVICOM Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli in his office, noted that there was need for the culture of efficient service to be deepened in the public service.
“SERVICOM comes in naturally as we are repeatedly making improvements and changes for better service delivery in the MDAs” he said.
He explained that one of the service cultures adopted by the Ministry was that files do not stay unattended to beyond 24 hours.
“Bureaucracy is driven by paper work so there is need to appreciate why it should be prioritised, because at the end of the day this is what will translate to results that will impact positively in the life of citizens”, he added
The Acting National Coordinator for SERVICOM had earlier intimated the Minister that the visit was to solicit support for the full implementation of the service delivery Initiative in the Ministry of Power, Woks and Housing.
She explained that a functional Ministerial SERVICOM Unit would enable the facilitation of improvement of systems and processes especially the formulation and implementation of the Ministry’s Service Charter which would allow for satisfactory delivery of services that Nigerians are yearning for.
“Nigerians are yearning for efficient and sufficient services from key Ministries like Power, Works and Housing as such the SERVICOM office wants to work closely with your SERVICOM Unit to demonstrate that quality of services delivered to citizens can improve with well-structured processes and systems”, she added.
She branded the Minister a “SERVICOM Champion” for the 24 hours response time to mails and for the positive disposition of the Ministry towards service delivery issues.
