Monarch commends government for addressing Niger-Delta needs

The Olu of Warri, Godfery Ikenwoli Emiko has commended the Nigerian government for addressing the needs of the people of the Niger-Delta region.

The Royal Father, who was speaking to Journalists after paying a courtesy visit on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, said the Muhammadu Buhari administration has exhibited a lot of seriousness in that regard.

“The federal government is doing everything possible, yes, they have been promising but this time around we are seeing signs of seriousness. For instance the Export Processing Zone, EPZ project started by Jonathan, he did the ground breaking but since then, nothing happened. But since the recent visits of the Vice President we have seen seriousness,” he said.

He said the step taken by government on modular refineries and the commencement of academic activities at the Maritime University are pointers to the seriousness of government.


The Monarch said his visit to the Presidential villa, was to show solidarity for President Buhari and also draw government’s attention to some specific needs of his people.

He further said: “For some time now there has been peace in the Niger-Delta area because the people have seen seriousness in the government. So if the government keeps up the pace, there will be more peace it will be better for everybody. More oil will be produced and there will be more money, development will come to the Niger-Delta area. We will support them in achieving that.”

The Olu of Warri also said his visit to the Presidential Villa was to show solidarity for President Buhari as well as thank Professor Osinbajo for the visit he undertook to his domain.

He however used the opportunity to request for more help for his people.
