The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kwara State Command has arrested five suspects dealing with drugs in Ilorin, the state capital.
The suspects are Aliyu Ismail, Aliyu Mustapha, Raheed Isiaq, Aina Ayobami and Shuiab Abdulqadir.
Parading the suspects in Ilorin, the State Commander of the Agency, Mr. Apeh Reuben told newsmen that all five suspects were arrested in an on uncompleted building around Baboko area, Ilorin.
According to him, the suspects generally ware supposed to be dealing in drugs, but they were found with functionally sophisticated locally made pistol ready for operation.
Mr. Reuben said that, the kind of firearms found with the suspects shows that drug users and consumers are potential armed robbers, adding that their inability to afford the drugs could make them rob.
According to the NDLEA Boss, in the recent time the impetus for the growing shenanigans of drug crime in the state among the youth has become unimaginable, pointing out that young people ranging between ages of 19-40 years have grown intent in commission of crime under the influence of drug.
Mr. Reuben however called on government at all levels in the country including private sector and Non-Governmental Organization NGO to give issue of drug more priority attention in order to have a drug free environment.
VON Correspondent, reports that seventy four suspects including sixty two male and twelve female had so far been arrested by the agency since the beginning of the year.
