Niger to procure N84.4m for science equipment

Niger State government has approved N84. 4 million for procurement and supply of science equipment, books and construction of a laboratory to enable four tertiary institutions meet accreditation of some courses.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Fatima Madugu said this to newsmen after the council meeting in Minna.

The benefiting schools are Justice Fati Lami Abubakar Institute of Arabic and Legal Studies Minna, College of Agriculture Mokwa, Institute of Innovation Technology Minna and School of Health Technology, Tunga Magajiya, where a laboratory is to be build.

According to the Commissioner, some of the courses in the four institutions are due for accreditations by their various approving authorities.

“The council approved the sum of N84.4 million for the procurement and supply of Science equipment, books and laboratory to these institutions in preparation for their accreditation,” she said.

“The approval is a testament to the fact that the administration of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is committed to improving the education sector by equipping all our state owned institutions adequately,” Madugu stated.
