Nigeria hosts economic conference on agriculture

The 11th Africa Economic Conference has  opened in Abuja on Monday to promote Agro-Allied industrialization towards feeding Africa.

The United Nations Development Program one of the organizers says that African Development Bank and Economic Commission of Africa would deliver lead papers towards the realization of the gathering key objectives.

It observed that the conference will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss Africa’s agricultural transformation with the latest empirical evidence on how to leverage on agro-industrialization for feeding Africa and promoting inclusive growth.

The forum will also provide avenue for critical thinking on how policy-makers, development partners, the private sector, civil society organizations and the academia should support the planning and implementation of these industrialization strategies to be adopted.

The event will also feature the launch of UNDP’s Africa Human Development Report 2016 entitled “Accelerating Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in Africa” as well as the launch of Economic Report on Africa 2016 and a discussion on Youth Agric-preneurship’s Aspirations and Challenges.
