The head coach of Nigeria’s Falconets, Peter Dedevbo has invited to camp 30 players for the 8th FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup scheduled for Papua New Guinea later in the year.
Top among the invited players is prolific striker, Chinwendu Ihezuo. To make it to the world cup proper, Nigeria defeated Liberia, Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa home and away in the qualifying series.
Nigeria will face Canada, Japan and Spain in group B.
The Canadians and Nigerians are clearly the experienced sides in Group B of the tournament with Japan and Spain bringing up the rear.
Though tied on seven appearances each at the Under-20 Women’s World Cup, Nigeria’s Falconets are favourites to finish top of their group having played in the last three editions, including finishing second on two occasions.
Nigeria will start her outing at the Under-20 Women’s World Cup against Japan at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby before facing Canada in Falconets’ second match three days later.
The Falconets will round off their quest to finish among the top-two in their group at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium, Port Moresby against Spain on November 20.
Other invited players to camp are, goalkeeper, Sandra Chichi (Sunshine Queens), Patience Kalu (Rivers Angels), Kemi Famuditi (Confluence Queens), Chinwendu Ihezuo (BIIK Zazygurt, Kazakhstan), Yetunde Adeboyejo (Bayelsa Queens), Ugochi Emenayo (Nasarawa Amazons) among others.
The players are to report in Abuja on Tuesday, September 27 with their training kits, birth certificates and international passports.
