Nigeria unveils new anti-corruption strategy

The Nigerian Government has launched a new anti corruption strategy in the country tagged  “Nigerian Women Against Corruption.”

The wife of the Nigerian President, Aisha Buhari, flagged off the campaign in Abuja, the  capital.

She said it was important for women to champion the fight against corruption from their homes because of the vital role women play in the society.

Mrs Buhari added that “the Change Begins with Me (campaign) must start with us. It will start with me, the wife of the Vice President and all Nigerian women.”aisha-buhari2

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Ibramim Magu,  said the project, “Women Against Corruption” was designed to mobilize women to actively participate in the anti- corruption crusade.

Guest Speaker at the event, former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloma Murktar , called on all Nigerians to encourage and empower women to enable them contribute to national development .

The Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Mr Osita Okechukwu, assured the First Lady the station would continue to support the present administration in the anti- corruption war.

“For the first time in the history of Nigeria, we have a President and a Vice President whose enemies have searched all the files of President Buhari. His record in the Petroleum industry was screened three times, the panel was set up after he left office. They could not find him corrupt,” he stated.

The “Women Against Corruption logo was unveiled by the wife of the President, wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo and the EFCC Chairman.
