The Super Eagles of Nigeria has moved up six places as they are in the 61st position in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday 2 June.
The Super Eagles are now 12th in Africa, behind Congo.
South Africa moved up two places to number 68 in the world and remains the 15th best side on the continent.
Gambia moved up three places but is still only positioned at number 165, the fifth worst team on the continent.
Only Seychelles, Djibouti, Eritrea and Somalia are placed below them.
Algeria has maintained top spot in the African list ahead of Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal and Egypt. Tunisia, Cape Verde Islands, DR Congo, Guinea and Cameroon make the top 10 ranked nation in Africa.
There was some change in the global list, though Argentina and Belgium remain the top two teams. Colombia has risen to third and Germany to fourth, while Chile dropped down to number five.
