Nigeria to hold National Economic Retreat

The National Economic Council, NEC, will hold a two-day retreat next week.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Vice President, Mr Laolu Akande says the event will hold in Abuja on March 21 and 22.

President Muhammadu Buhari will deliver the keynote address during the formal opening session on Monday March 21.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would preside over the retreat in his capacity as the Chairman of NEC.

The Governors of the 36 states of the federation will attend, including the Central Bank Governor and the Minister of Budget and National Planning among other top government functionaries.

The objective of the Retreat is to provide a forum for in-depth discussions by NEC members on the policy actions that the States and the Federal governments can consider, in order to stimulate local production, cut costs and enhance public revenues to stimulate the economy.
