The Nigerian government has reiterated its resolve to maintaining high quality infrastructure to guarantee diversification of the nation’s economy and creating sustainable development.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu disclosed this during a visit by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, UNIDO, on development of National Infrastructure for Nigeria in Abuja.

Dr. Onu said his Ministry was prepared to grow a strong economy through quality infrastructure.

“We want to see our economy diversified, we want to see our economy strong, we want to see our developmental effort sustainable and in order to achieve that our infrastructure must be well developed, our infrastructure must also meet the basic minimum standards because there is no way we can grow our economy, bring in investors from outside and within if we do not have the necessary infrastructure,” the Minister of science and technology said.
The Minister also assured the UNIDO on development of National Infrastructure for Nigeria of the Ministry’s commitment to ensure the Nigerian economy competes with the best in the world.

“We want our nation to grow in a way that we would be lifting our people out of poverty and be in a position to produce what we would consume so that if there is any collapse or sharp drop in commodity prices the effect on our economy would not be as it is today,” he added.
