The national cycling team on Wednesday won their first medal at the 2017 Africa Continental Road Championship in Luxor, Egypt.
The competition began on Tuesday and Nigeria are in Egypt with eight cyclists.
Jacinta Okorie, who is the country’s only junior cyclist in the team, won bronze in the junior girls’ individual time trial, which covered 15km. Ethiopian cyclists finished in first and second in the event.
In the junior boy’s category, Algeria came first with Morocco and Ethiopia trailing in second and third positions. The senior boys and girls individual time trial races hold on Thursday.
Nigeria finished fourth in the senior girls’ team time trial while they were eighth in the boys team time trial.
Eleven countries are participating in the competition, which will end on February 19.
