The Nigerian Navy says its partnership with the International Aviation College, Ilorin will create a unique combination of fixed and rotary wing training for civil and non-civil organisations as well as individuals in the West African sub-region.
The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Eke Ibas stated this at the International Aviation College Ilorin during the flag-off of Helicopter Training in partnership with the Nigerian Navy.
Represented by the Chief of Logistics, Rear Admiral Ambah Anyakpele , Ibas said the Nigerian Navy is poised to train its aviators to global standards, improve their proficiency and capacity as well as contribute to the overall efficiency in coordinated naval operations.
The Chief of Naval Staff explained that the partnership to train aviators is a bold step towards a vision of creating a regional aviation training hub in Ilorin.
Vice Admiral Ibas assured Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and the people of the state of the full commitment of the Nigerian Navy to the collaboration and future partnerships.
Earlier, the Group Managing Director, Nigerian Navy Holdings, Rear Admiral J.O Oluwole had commended the management of the International Aviation College for the commitment to the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Nigerian Navy.
Rear Admiral Oluwole gave assurance that with feelers from foreign countries more fleets would be added.
