NPA boss assures ICRC of continuous cooperation

The Managing Director of the Nigerian ports authority NPA, Mallam Habib Abdullahi has assured the Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission ICRC of the authority’s continuous support and cooperation in the discharge of its duties.

Mallam Abdullahi gave the assurance while receiving a delegation of the commission led by its director General mallam Aminu Dikko in his office at Marina, Lagos.

As a practical demonstration of the assurance, the Managing Director directed that the monitoring and compliance division should henceforth submit a copy of its quarterly reports to the infrastructure concession regulatory commission.

The Managing Director remarked that it is commendable that ICRC is alive to its responsibility which he said will give it the opportunity to get firsthand information on the challenges of the concession programme and listen to observations from concessionaires.

Mallam Abdullahi announced that a public private partnership department will be established to take care of investors’ interest in the nation’s seaports.

While disclosing that some concession agreements which had expired have been extended because of investments by such concessionaires and he promised to facilitate the flow of information between the ICRC and concessionaires.

The Managing Director of ICRC mallam Aminu Dikko congratulated mallam Habib Abdullahi on his re-appointment, noting that it is an indication of his dedication to duties and enjoined civil servants to emulate him.

Mallam Dikko disclosed that ICRC was established in 2005 for two major reasons which are, addressing physical infrastructure deficits and certifying projects by ministries, departments and agencies and monitoring project compliance by concessionaires.

He urged the Managing Director to visit ICRC deep seaports projects in Lekki and the Kirikiri lighter terminals 1and 2 with a view to ascertain the level of infrastructure development and condition respectively.
The Director General further thanked the Managing Director for the support he received at delta ports.
