NNL 2017: FC Abuja beats Jigawa Stars 2-1

Football Club Abuja a.k.a. FC Abuja, beat their visiting opponent, Jigawa Stars 2-1 in the week 10 Nigeria National League (NNL), match played at Area 3 football field, Abuja on Friday.

The match recorded a brace by Samaila Ishaq of Abuja in the 16th and 30th minutes of the match.

However, Abba Umar of Jigawa scored his team’s only goal at the 69th minute (second half).

Justice Zakari, Captain, Abuja FC said his team was poised to move to the premiership league.

“We are determined to take our club to the premiership and that we must achieve.

Our home match against Jigawa today was an interesting one because both sides played very well.

It can also be called a local derby because some of the players of Jigawa used to be in our team and both sides put up a good fight.

We thank God for the victory at the end of the day and we hope to sustain the victory when we meet them at home”, he said.

Similarly, Ekene James, assistant captain, Jigawa Stars said the team did its best.

“We tried our best in the match but the game didn’t end in our favour.

The second half was very tough but we only succeeded in returning a goal”, he said.

He said officiating of the match was ok.

FC Abuja now has 15 points while Jigawa Stars has 11 points.
