The Northern States Governor’s Forum NSGF in Nigeria says the Islamic Development Bank indicated interest to assist the region in its areas of interest.

Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim Shettima made the disclosure after a meeting which deliberated on tropical issues of common interest within the region at the Kaduna Government House, Kaduna.

He said the bank promised to introduce the NSGF delegation to its sovereignty groups in Qatar, Dubai, Kuwait Saudi Arabia, who are likely to complete project templates.

While speaking on the New Nigerian Development Company, NNDC, the Chairman explained that, negotiation was on-going with managements of Nigerian National Petroleum Resources DPR on the venturing of NNDC into Oil and Gas exploration in the North.

“As regards New Nigerian development Company, the Forum resolved to partially restructure the company through disposing some of its assets to settle its liabilities and restart as a new outfit,” Governor Shettima said.

The Chairman further explained that plans are underway to resuscitate the Kaduna Textile limited KTL by consulting foreign companies as strategic partners.

“The Forum noted with concern the emergence and proliferation of Islamic religious sects in some parts of Northern Nigeria whose doctrines are repugnant to Quranic injuctions and Islamic jurisprudence,” he explained.

He added that the Forum had therefore resolved to establish a regulatory mechanism to consistently monitor activities of newly registered and unregistered religious organisation.
